Locally owned and operated by Lindsay and Cheryl Salathiel, Salway Transport Services Pty Ltd originated in 2000 as Salway Packages, a small freight business delivering goods for Linfox Transport from the Myer Distribution Centre in Altona to Myer Bendigo.
Over time Salway Packages grew, and in 2005 the company purchased Ben-Bal Freighters, significantly increasing their vehicle range, freight distribution, service delivery areas and staff. Salway Packages was fast making a name for itself as a reliable, reputable and hands-on transport service with a ‘can-do’ attitude to match.
In 2007 the company established its head office in the city of Golden Square, securing a large, modern warehouse complete with CCTV monitoring. This additional space and security enabled Salway Packages to confidently launch itself in the freight delivery business. And with concurrent depots located in Maryborough, Ballarat, Shepparton and Laverton, Salway Packages was growing stronger every day.
In April 2008 Salway Packages registered a new entity, Ben-Shep, which operates a daily run from Bendigo to Shepparton, linking in with the existing Ben-Bal that continues its Bendigo to Ballarat service.
In May 2008 Salway Packages underwent a major name change. Salway Transport Services Pty Ltd was born of the need to recognise a more appropriate title that better reflected what the business is all about. As Salway Transport Services grows, so too does its determination to prove itself as a leading freight distribution company. Combining a reliable, efficient service with friendly, local instruction, Salway Transport Services is definitely standing out among the rest.

Throughout the years Salway Transport Services Pty Ltd has continued to carry out work for Linfox Transport, and to this day almost 10 years later, still transports stock from the Myer Distribution Centre in Altona to Myer Bendigo daily. It is this commitment to customer service that cements Salway’s long-standing reputation as a dependable and trustworthy adversary within Victoria’s freight transport industry.
